The Fed governors may fear, like with many Hollywood movie flicks, the third instalment is often a flop. In a sense, QE2 failed from the perspective that it did not lower rates, in fact bond yields widened significantly since QE2 was introduced in August 2010. The saving grace was that a turnaround in US equities, which began a few weeks before QE2 was introduced, was further fuelled by the anticipated liquidity created by QE2.
